14. I recently joined as a YBP Member, how do I get involved in YBP (e.g., join a committee)?

1. Q: Who can become a YBP Member?

A: YBP Membership eligibility includes Black professionals at every level in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry across all experience levels, functional areas, educational background, and therapeutic area expertise. YBP members must also share the same passion with the YBP co-founders which is to advance the Black community and improve the inclusion of Black professionals seated at the table throughout the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. YBP Members must currently be employed full-time or currently completing a post-graduate fellowship at a pharmaceutical or biotech company* (*A pharmaceutical and/or biotech company is defined as a commercial business licensed to research, develop, market and/or distribute drugs, most commonly in the context of healthcare.)

2. Q: I am not yet in the pharmaceutical industry but am interested in breaking into pharma and want to learn more. Can I still join YBP as a member?

A: YBP Membership is only available for those currently in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry. Please stay connected with us as we have several invaluable resources and developmental programming which are open to all audiences, including Non-Members.

3. Q: Do I need to be of a certain age to join Young Black Pharma? Is there an age limit to join?

A: Young Black Pharma has no age limit. “Young” in Young Black Pharma references “Young in Spirit” and speaks to the energetic passion we approach our lives and careers with. Young Black Pharma encompasses Black professionals from all age groups and supports the professional needs of both men and women at all stages of their industry careers.

4. Q: Is Young Black Pharma only for pharmacists?

A: YBP is proud to be serving Black professionals from entry level to executives. We are proud of the diverse network we have built – one that includes Black professionals across all educational and training backgrounds including Bachelor’s, Master’s, MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, etc.  YBP Members represent various functional areas within the pharmaceutical and biotech industry including field medical, medical affairs, commercial, sales, marketing, regulatory affairs, legal, clinical development, HEOR, etc. YBP is the go-to organization for Black professionals in the pharmaceutical industry, irrespective of educational background, functional area, or years of experience.

A: The YBP Membership Advantage provides Members with access to exclusive resources and tools that will help our professionals advance professionally while building upon their netWORTH! This includes discounted member registration rate for YBP’s Conference & Gala, access to all available recordings and resources from past YBP webinars and podcasts, access to YBP’s invaluable list of Black HCPs and KOLs in various TAs across the U.S., access to “The Quarterly Dividend” - YBP’s quarterly newsletter, access to past YBP conference materials and key session recordings, access to YBP’s Mentorship Program for early career and executive leaders, access to YBP’s “White Pages”:  A directory of YBP’s membership network, and access to all YBP social events and local meet-ups.

6. Q: Do I have to be a YBP Member to participate in the YBP Mentorship Program?

A: Yes, you must be registered as a YBP member to join the YBP Mentorship Program as a “mentee”.

7. Q: What does it mean to be a Member vs a Non-Member?

A: A Member is an industry professional who has signed up and purchased YBP Annual Membership for the current year. A Non-Member is anyone who has not purchased annual membership and/or who is not eligible for membership. Please note that Members must log in to access Members-Only materials and resources on the website.

8. Q: What is the cost for 2025 YBP Annual Membership?

A:

  • Full-time/Contractor Pharmaceutical Industry Professionals - $199
  • Post-graduate Training Program (e.g. PharmD Fellow, MD, PhD, MBA training programs) - $89
  • Partner Pharmaceutical Industry Company Professionals (e.g. CRO, Med Comm Agency, Consulting Firm) - $349

9. Q: How can I register for annual membership to become an YBP Member?

10. Q: How long is my annual membership good for?

A: YBP Annual Membership is good through December 31st of each year and must be renewed annually to receive the YBP Membership Advantage.

11. Q: How do I renew my annual membership?

A: You must register each year to renew your YBP Annual Membership.

12. Q: How do I reset my username and password?

A: Please visit the Member Log-in screen on our website where you may click on the link to reset your password. If you have any issues with resetting your password, please email us at [email protected].

13. Q: How do I receive my invoice for YBP Annual Membership?

A: You should have received an email confirmation from us once you registered for YBP Annual Membership. Your invoice is included in this email along with details regarding your membership benefits. Please note that many companies reimburse their employees for professional development memberships and conferences! Ask your manager if YBP’s Annual Membership and/or Conference & Gala qualifies for reimbursement!  If you have any additional questions please email us at [email protected].
